Use
Your wheelchair may be
used both inside (at
home, at work), and outside
on stable and solid ground.
Consult your supplier
to determine the most
appropriate wheelchair
model for the needs of
the user. The chair is
designed for a person,
who is sitting, to move.
Take maximum precautions
the first times he/she
uses the chair. It is
advisable that he/she
should be accompanied
by another person on
first trips. Maximise
precautions when tackling
irregular ground such
as kerbs, upward and
downward slopes, and
potholes, etc.
Footrests
It may come with three
footrest types or models:
Fixed
Fixed footrests can neither
be turned nor removed.
They only allow for adjustment
of platform height inclination
and disassembly.
Removable
Removable footrests have
the same functions as
the fixed footrests and
they can also turn in
both directions and may
be removed. To do this,
it is only necessary
to pull the anchor trigger,
turn the footrest 45º
and pulled upwards until
it has been removed from
its housing. (fig.
8)
Reclinable Like
the two previously-mentioned
models they also allow
for adjustment without
staggering all the footrest
components. To vary the
position, it is simply
necessary to keep the
adjustment lever pressed
down (fig.9).
Folding/unfolding
(according to version)
To fold the chair, slide
the arm under the seat
fabric and pull it upwards
(fig.
10).
To unfold chair, push
the ends of the seat
downwards to their maximum
position (fig.
11).
Maintenance
and cleaning
To preserve the upholstery,
clean it with lukewarm
water and, occasionally,
with a gentle detergent.
Neither use corrosive
products nor stiff brushes.
Periodically check tyre
pressure and condition.
Check wheelchair fastening
parts (screws and nuts,
etc.). Use only original
spare parts. Contact
the supplier for repairs.
Electric wheelchairs
should not be cleaned
with high-pressure cleaners!
Do not use laundry facilities!
Electric wheelchairs
should undergo a safety
inspection every 12 months
(according to frequency
of use). This should
be performed by the authorised
distributor.

Instructions
Read the instructions
in these sections carefully
before using your wheelchair.
Our wheelchairs respond
to your quality, mobility
and independence requirements.
In order to do this,
we develop and put technical
innovations and solutions
onto the market which
meet any need that may
differ from what is usual.
Your distributor will
deliver the wheelchair
ready for use and adapted
to your needs.
Safety
-
Do not use feet as
a brake for the chair.
-
Before any journey,
double the platforms
and, if possible, remove
the footrest.
-
A body movement to
the side or from the
front to the back increases
the risk of turning
over considerably,
and more so if heavy
objects are being lifted.
-
Extreme chair angles
increase the risk of
turning over.
-
Do not overload the
chair. It has been
designed for only one
person to sit in it.
-
The chair should be
driven by using the
push rims.
-
Avoid sudden jerking
movements.
-
Do not place hands
in wheels which do
not have push rims.
-
Take special care that
the hands are not hurt
in narrow passages.
-
When the push rims
are damaged, they should
be changed to prevent
injury to the hands.
-
To go up and down steps
get the assistance
of at least two people.
The people who help
you should only lift
the chair by the fixed
parts of the frame.
-
Do not go on inclined
areas or use lifts,
etc., without the armrests
on the chair.
-
Do go on slopes greater
than 6%.
-
Do not remain in the
wheelchair when it
is being transported
in a vehicle. In the
event of accident,
it may be subject to
force for which the
wheelchair has not
been designed.
-
Make sure to leave
the brake on the wheelchair
when not in use.
-
It should not be used
on mechanical escalators
even with the assistance
of another person.
-
If a chassis component
is bent, it should
be changed. Never try
to straighten it out.
-
Make sure to have the
wheelchair regularly
serviced by your supplier.
-
Never use the chair
without the armrests.
-
Never lift the chair
by the armrests.
Stability
- When
the footrests are in
a horizontal position,
they impair the chair’s
performance.
- When
dealing with obstacles,
reclinable backs should
be placed in an upright
position to prevent
turning over.
-
At the bottom of a
downward slope or to
go on to the kerb,
take care of the height
of the footrest platforms
at floor level. There
is a risk of accident
due to sudden braking.
- Upward
and downward slopes
and obstacles in general
may involve risks if
certain limits are
exceeded. Chairs with
motor wheels at the
back may tip backwards
if the user’s body
is not correctly positioned
on the seat. E.g. if
the body is too upright.
-
Incline the body forwards
on upwards slopes and
backwards on downward
slopes. Reduce speed
on downward slopes
so as to control your
chair better. A body
movement to the side
or from front to back
increases the risk
of turning over considerably.
- If
heavy objects are lifted
at the side of the
chair, the wheels should
be in a forward position.
-
In normal conditions
of use (dry, clean
terrain and without
any slopes to the side),
slopes which do not
exceed 8% can be undertaken.
Stability is restricted
if there are slopes
to the side.
Obstacles
- Tackle
obstacles head on with
both wheels at the
same time (front or
back wheels) to prevent
the chair from turning
over.
- To
get down from low obstacles,
simply roll forward.
Make sure that the
footrest platforms
do not touch or rub
against the ground.
- In
some circumstances,
to deal with some obstacles
on rough terrain, the
assistance of a third
person will be required.
Armrests
The armrests are designed
to provide a relaxed
and comfortable posture
for the user and prevent
strain on the shoulder
and back muscles.
To
disassemble:
The
armrests should be unblocked
before they are removed.
To do this, position
the blocking lever upwards
or press the anchorage
button. Remove the armrests
from their housing, pulling
from the bottom upwards.
(fig. 1).
To
assemble:
Position
the armrests within the
guides and fix them into
position by positioning
the blocking lever downwards.
In models with an anchorage
button, press the armrests
down to the bottom taking
care that the safety
button fits into its
housing (fig.
2).
Brakes
Brake the wheelchair
with the same proportional
left/right pressure.
Braking and releasing
the brake should be an
easy operation.
To
block:
Push the two levers
forwards up to their
maximum position. Once
the brake has blocked
the wheel, the wheel
should no longer turn
(fig.
3). Some circumstances
such as worn tyres, insufficient
tyre pressure or a badly-adjusted
brake may cause bad wheelchair
braking.
To
unblock:
Push
the two levers backwards.
Make sure the shoes are
totally freed and that
they do not rub the wheel
(fig.
4 ).
Wheels
There
re several versions
of back wheels:
Fixed 600 (24")
pneumatic or solid wheel.
Fixed 315 (12")
pneumatic or solid wheel.
Assembled on chair to
be pushed by another
person.
Removable 600
(24") pneumatic or solid
wheel. 4-bar tyre pressure.
Also consult the indications
on the side of the tyre
covers.
Solid 200x35
pneumatic 200x50 directional
wheels. 2.5-bar tyre
pressure. Also consult
the indications on the
side of the tyre covers.
Other wheel and tyre
models are supplied
according to wheelchair
features.
Periodically check tyre
tread and pressure.
Very worn tyres may
cause accidents because
of poor surface grip.
Wheels-
Punctures
To
repair a puncture in
an inflatable tyre proceed
exactly in the same
way as for a bicycle
or motorcycle wheel
puncture. (It can be
done in a bicycle or
motorcycle repair workshop).
Empty the air
that may remain in the
inner tube.
Remove the point
or object stuck in the
cover which has caused
the puncture.
Repair the hole
with a patch or change
the inner tube.
Change the tyre
cover should it be necessary.
Inflate the wheel
to the required pressure.
Back
and seat
Your
wheelchair can come
with backs of different
types:
Fixed Back
This is part of a single
body with the chair
chassis and thus does
not allow for any adjustment.
Collapsible
back
The top of the back
may be reclined using
two pivots, located
on the tubes, and sliding
them upwards (fig.
6).
Reclinable back
This
allows for the option
of adjusting the angles
of inclination. To do
this:
Pull the two
bars below the handles
upwards.
Once the rack
has been unblocked,
select the desired back
option.
Loosen the bars
and make sure that the
racks return again to
anchoring position.
To change to
another position, follow
the previous steps (fig.
7)
The upholstery of both
the seat and its edges
and the middle and the
top of the back is subject
to high tension. With
use and time it has
a tendency to become
progressively looser
and to tear. Upholstery
which is too loose or
torn should be changed.
Makes sure that upholstery
tension is the same
for the back as for
the seat. We recommend,
in any case, that they
should be changed at
the same time.
